How Bitship Works

Bitship sits between your Square store and your customers, turning every paid order into an automatic, secure delivery. Here’s the full picture.

  1. A customer checks out on Square. They buy one of your items using your normal Square store or checkout link.
  2. Square notifies Bitship. Once payment is confirmed, Square sends the order details to Bitship.
  3. Bitship matches the order to your products. For each purchased item, Bitship finds the product you’ve mapped to that Square catalog item.
  4. The customer gets an email. Bitship emails the buyer with a link to a secure download page for everything in their order.
  5. You see it in your dashboard. Every order appears on your Orders page so you can review what was delivered and to whom.

Every delivery depends on a product mapping — a Bitship product tied to a specific Square catalog item (and, if the item has variations, a specific variation):

In SquareIn Bitship
Catalog item (e.g. “Lightroom Preset Pack”)A product mapped to that item
Item variation (e.g. “Standard” vs “Pro”)Each variation you sell digitally needs its own product mapping in Bitship
Order line itemDetermines which product(s) get delivered

Bitship delivers once Square reports the order as paid. For a typical Square checkout (card, Cash App, etc.), that means delivery within moments of the customer completing their purchase.

The delivery email links to a private page listing every product in the order. From there, the customer can:

  • Download files that were uploaded directly to Bitship
  • View file for products that point to an external link (like a Google Drive file)

No account or password is required on the customer’s end — the link itself is what grants access.
